“99 Ford Escort” by Deaudrick Williams is a brilliant project- extremely raw in its absolute honesty. The first sounds you hear as the project begins is a clip pulled straight from The Boondocks. The clips that filter in and out of the project give off a cinematic feel and keep the track list moving. The flows Deaudrick Williams runs though throughout the set list are filled with ridiculous cadences and lyricism. It’s clear that Williams is telling a beautiful story, one just has to tune in and listen.
The hardest track on the project, bar none, is, “Perception.” The song begins with a Chris Rock rant on black people, which really opens up the content angle for the song. A solemn piano accompanies the beautiful story that sets off at the get go. “I’m just counting my blessings under the scope now.”
I won’t reveal too much on the project. Listen for yourself. Go stream, “99 Ford Escort,” by Deaudrick Williams and vibe out.
