Orlando-based artist Clendetta uses the surreal to help others see perspective through his visuals. His artwork showcases a fascinating mixture of deep space influences and representations of the unknown, or even completely alien, that look to push the limits of reality.
For example, one of the more interesting pieces, “Deep Space,” reveal brilliant creatures of the deep sea, floating in outer space, on the verge of consuming entire galaxies, and straddling the moon, atop the universe.
Furthermore, Clendetta’s use of different colors, in place of realistic ones for portraits, further push the envelope in creating a new reality, or perspective, for the viewers.
The piece, “Color Margo,” shows viewers a regular portrait of a girl highlighted with the most abstract color textures that will undoubtedly usher into the viewer’s mind the most fantastic thoughts of wondrous worlds where such colors might not only be a reality, but the norm. Clendetta’s work, as a whole, brings to mind feelings of nostalgia, and film. In fact, Star Wars frequently pops up in the artwork.
Clendetta’s artwork seeks to push the envelope of reality and perspective, and succeeds ecstatically in doing so.
